Business Retention + Expansion Program

The Municipality of North Grenville, through partnership with the North Grenville Chamber of Commerce and partial funding by the Ontario Rural Economic Development Program (RED), is delivering the Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) Program to our local business community this year. Business Retention + Expansion (BR+E) is a community-based, volunteer driven economic development tool to encourage the growth and stability of local business.
Community Update - Business visits almost completed!!
Our dedicated group of over forty BR+E volunteer visitors are moving us closer to reaching our goal of completing 80 business visits to identify opportunities and barriers that affect our local business community and we are gathering the necessary data that will be used to develop a Business Retention + Expansion Action Plan for success.
Participating businesses were randomly chosen from all areas of our community in North Grenville and represent a broad range of industries and sectors, geographic locations and size.
We are well on our way to meeting our goal of visiting 80 businesses. Our volunteers have completed 73 business visits which represents 91% of our target.
A resource network has also been established of people with specific and specialized skills from various agencies and organizations who are recognized for providing valuable resources, to work with our participating businesses, who through the business visit process, identify issues such as requests for resources and information, expansion plans as an opportunity, or business downsize or closure as a red flag issue and of upmost importance to address.
The BR+E Leadership Team and our Volunteer Task Force are looking forward to working together to come up with a preliminary action plan, which will then be presented to the business community and all stakeholders for consideration and final input prior to finalizing the strategy to be taken to Municipal council for consideration and potential approval.
We are meeting our targets and goals, which is a testament of how strongly our local community believes in and supports the idea of working together to identify and address opportunities and barriers for our local business community through the Business Retention + Expansion Program.
