Hamlet of Burritt's Rapids

Burritts Rapids offers any number of beautiful locations with views of the nature where you can spend quality time with your significant other.

  • Start at the Burritt's Rapids lockstation, with its greenspaces, gardens and Rideau Canal. Cross the locks to enter the Tip to Tip trail for your stroll along the river.
  • Pass through the quaint, historical village where you'll find yourself on an antique, wooden swing bridge. Parks staff still open it for every boat that comes along.
  • Still too nervous to pop the question? Need a little more time? No problem. This trail has several lookouts that will serve you well when you're ready.
  • Continue on through the trees of the Tip to Tip. The dam offers another unique spot to compliment a great memory. It stretches out from the island through the river and is one of the series of dams along the rideau that Parks Canada uses these dams to raise or lower water levels.
  • The two iconic, red, Parks Canada muskoka chairs at the end of the trail are perfectly arranged for a side-by-side hand hold to watch the sunset together.
