North Grenville is a growing municipality located in eastern Ontario housing a unique blend of small town and rural culture. Comprised of an urban centre (Kemptville) and surrounded by several charming rural hamlets, North Grenville is situated between Canada’s National Capital – Ottawa and the St. Lawrence River, only a 30-minute drive along the Veterans Memorial Highway (416), to either destination. Alternatively, for a more leisure journey, North Grenville offers the historic Rideau River managed by Parks Canada.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Facilities Superintendent, the Facilities Operator assumes responsibility for the operation and maintenance of all facilities and parks under the Facilities Division of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department. The Operator assists with providing day-to-day direction for full time-part-time, casual, seasonal and contract staff.
Qualifications:
• Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent education and training
• Minimum six (6) months related work experience, preferably in a municipal setting
• Superior customer service, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills combined with excellent written and oral communication skills
• Basic refrigeration and ice resurface training
• Standard First Aid and level C CPR Certification, including defibrillator training required or willingness to obtain
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and HVAC considered an asset
• Propane Certification required or willingness to obtain
• Smart Serve certification required or willingness to obtain
Position Description:
• Performs maintenance on all buildings, facilities and property under the PRC portfolio
• Operates, repairs and maintains all ice making and ice maintenance equipment, including the ice resurfacer
• Provides general guidance, consistent with directions from Facilities Supervisor and Lead Hand to facility attendants and seasonal park staff as required
• Operates and maintains all equipment and structures for parks, including lawn mowers, tractors, trimmers, groomers, seeders, aerators, docks, play structures, backstops etc.
• Operates and maintains pool and pool equipment
• Sets up and tears down in halls, theatre and other facilities for special events, rentals and other bookings including audio-visual set-up and troubleshooting of technical issues
• Ensures compliance with the Municipalities approved health and safety policies and procedures and any other applicable legislation relating to workplace health and safety and fire/building legislation and policies
• Performs administration functions as designated by the Facilities Supervisor including preparing Incident Reports as required
• Performs basic inspections, safety and operational checks of equipment and facilities, and maintains appropriate logs
• Interacts with various user groups of the facilities to ensure smooth operations, scheduling of events or usage (including minor scheduling or booking modifications)
• Ensures excellent customer service to all facility users, maintain a positive image of the Municipality and ensuring that the municipal facilities and services are profiled in a positive manner
• Performs other duties as required
Working Conditions
• Based on a forty (40) hour work week, four-day ten (10) hour shift rotation and the ability to work evenings and weekends
• Facility environment plus travel to other municipally owned facilities for inspections and maintenance
• Ability to life and move objects under 50 pounds
• Attend meetings, and training as required
• Exposure to elements such as inclement weather (extreme heat and/or cold), chemicals, dust, waste site environment, garbage and noise
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $29.12 to $36.39 per hour.
