Welcome to North Grenville

Message from the Mayor

On behalf of Council and all staff, it is my great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all who are discovering or returning to our beautiful township. As Mayor of North Grenville, I am honoured to represent this thriving and diverse region, and I am excited to share the many reasons why we believe North Grenville is a wonderful place to live, work, and play.

Located exactly on the 45th parallel, the center point between the equator and the North Pole, I like to say that North Grenville is the center of the universe – and we are right in the sweet spot between so many things: rural charm and urban convenience, with the country’s National Capital right next door.

Cozily nestled in the heart of the picturesque Rideau Canal corridor, we offer breathtaking natural landscapes, scenic trails, and an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities – hiking, cycling, boating, immerse yourself in the tranquility of natural beauty by along our many kilometers of carefully maintained trails or waterways. You will always find solace and inspiration in our stunning surroundings.

Urban Convenience? The motto on our welcome sign is ‘Green and Growing’ – and the growth is certainly visible in the many new homes and businesses along our main corridor, but the ‘green’ is evident in so many ways as well – whether it is on the trails through Municipally owned and managed 800 hectare Ferguson Forestry Centre on one end of Kemptville, or the forested beauty of the Kemptville Campus with its many more trails on the other; under the lush canopy of the Limerick Forest, or along the banks of the Rideau River (or its south branch, The Kemptville Creek…) that winds its way through our home, connecting township and hamlet alike along the way.

Beyond our natural wonders, North Grenville boasts a warm, accepting, and generous community. Our residents are the heart and soul of this township, and their dedication to fostering a welcoming and supportive atmosphere is remarkable. Born in the middle of a once-in-a-generation ice storm, the amalgamated municipality of North Grenville has proven its community spirit from day one when generous neighbors came together to care for each other in a time of great need – meals were cooked, fires were lit, and folks gathered together in homes and community spaces for warmth and safety. In the process, they became more than neighbours, they became an ad hoc family that works together, celebrates each other's achievements, and revels in a shared spirit of civic pride.

Whether you are shopping, dining, and exploring in historic downtown Kemptville, or visiting one of the six rural hamlets: Oxford Mills, Oxford Station, Bishops Mills, Burritts Rapids, Heckston, or Pelton’s Corners - you will always find friendly faces and an abundance of activities and events to engage all ages and interests.

As Mayor, I am committed on behalf of Council to enhancing the quality of life for all residents of North Grenville. We strive to provide exceptional services, maintain our infrastructure, and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. We value open communication and encourage residents to actively engage in shaping the future of our township. Your voice matters, and together, we can continue building a community that we can all be proud to call home.

Once again, I extend a warm welcome to North Grenville. Whether you are a newcomer or a longtime resident, I invite you to explore all that our township has to offer. Embrace the natural beauty, connect with our welcoming community, and be a part of the North Grenville story. I am confident that you will discover a place that will capture your heart and provide countless opportunities for growth and fulfillment.

Thank you for choosing North Grenville. I look forward to meeting you and working together to create an even brighter future.
