Standardized Housing Designs
We support the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s (CMHC) Housing Design Catalogue, an initiative that provides standardized housing plans aimed at expanding low-density housing choices, including contemporary designs that fit well within established neighbourhoods.
These designs have been reviewed for general alignment with current zoning regulations.
Key Benefits
- Streamlined applications - Pre-reviewed templates can help make the permit process quicker and more predictable.
- Reduced costs - Using standardized designs may lower soft costs for both developers and homeowners.
- Zoning alignment - The designs are consistent with North Grenville's zoning requirements.
- Save time and money by using a Housing Design Catalogue plan as some of the initial planning work is already done for you. While the plans are free, you must get the approveal of a qualified professional, such as an architect, engineer, or licensed designer with a Building Code Identification Number (BCIN), to amend the designs for your property.
Housing Design Options
The Housing Design Catalogue includes a range of designs for different housing types and site conditions in each region. Several design aspects can be modified and customized, including cladding, roofing, interior finishes and other aesthetic considerations. Renderings below are provided as illustrative examples only. All Ontario designs are compliant within the Municipality of North Grenville, with the exception of ADU-02.
Note: These designs do not guarantee permit approval. Approval depends on site-specific factors. Applicants must verify the design meets all applicable requirements.
