Residents across the municipality participated in the democratic process to elect members of Council and School Board Trustees for the 2026–2030 term of office.

Parks Canada - Burritts Rapids - October 13, 2026 (Updated October 28, 2026) – Parks Canada advises residents and visitors that the Burritts Rapids Tip-to-Tip Trail will be temporarily closed between Centre Street and the lockstation for tree and woody vegetation removal. This is necessary to allow for inspection and to maintain the integrity of the dam. UPDATED: The work is ongoing and is expected to continue until November 27, 2026. The same area will close again in December for waterside erosion protection.

The Municipality will lower its flags to half-mast in response to the tragedy at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Wainwright in Alberta on October 17, 2026. We extend our heartfelt condolences to everyone affected by this tragic event, including the families and loved ones of those involved, fellow service members, and the wider military community.
