The Municipality of North Grenville is actively exploring the development of a multi-sport indoor dome at the Kemptville Campus that would provide much-needed, year-round indoor recreation opportunities for the community and surrounding region.
North Grenville is pursuing external funding opportunities, including provincial support, to bring the vision to life. With strong regional interest, detailed design in progress, and broad-based community engagement, the project is well-positioned to move forward if funding can be secured.
As the only facility of its kind between Kingston and Ottawa, the North Grenville Sports Dome would offer inclusive, weather-safe space for field and court sports, walking programs, tournaments, and training camps, supporting healthy lifestyles, youth development, and rural economic growth. The Municipality is committed to ensuring the proposed design is efficient, accessible, and community-focused.
About the Project
The proposed sports dome is an indoor, air-supported facility designed to expand opportunities for year-round sport and recreation in North Grenville.
The dome would cover a full-size artificial turf field, hard courts, and a concourse for running and walking. It would support sports such as soccer, football, baseball training, pickleball, tennis, basketball, and more.
The goal is to create a flexible, multi-use facility that helps meet the growing demand for indoor recreation space in the community.
Community Engagement
Yes. Community feedback is an important part of the planning process.
To date we have received over 230 letters of support from a broad range of sports and recreational groups, as well as individuals, not to mention support from all four school boards, plus our local OPP and Hospital who see the immense benefit of increasing recreations options.
We also have a team of over 50 Community Champions who gather for quarterly meetings to review project updates and provide feedback as we work toward a draft design for community input.
As the project continues to progress, the municipality will share updates and provide opportunities for residents, community groups, and business owners to learn more and share their perspectives. Your feedback is important throughout the process.

Planning and Process
No. The project is currently in the planning and funding exploration stage.
Council has directed staff to advance the concept, develop detailed designs, and explore potential funding opportunities.

Community Impact
The dome would be available for a wide range of users, including:
